The LKH Ending Hunger project was established in 2022 to alleviate
food scarcity in underprivileged regions of Uganda.
According to the Global Hunger Index, agriculture plays a crucial
role in Uganda’s economy, with 68% of Ugandans employed
in agriculture and 25% of GDP coming from this sector.
Despite Uganda’s abundant biodiversity, numerous freshwater lakes
with irrigation potential, and two rainy seasons per year, agriculture in
Uganda faces challenges such as droughts, diseases, and pests.
The 2022 Global Hunger Index classifies food insecurity in Uganda
as “serious,” with widespread malnutrition affecting 29% of children
under the age of five.

On January 8th 2022, the LKH distributed food items to 15 households in Katanga, Uganda. 3 kgs of maize flour, 2 kgs of beans , 2 kgs of rice , 1 kg of peas, 1 pack of salt and 2 kgs of sugar were given to each household.

Encouraging sustainable agricultural practices

The LKH End Hunger Project aims to address food insecurity in Uganda by enhancing agricultural productivity through partnerships with agricultural organizations. This involves conducting farmers’ workshops to teach sustainable agricultural practices and providing food items to people living in food-scarce regions of Uganda.
