The LKH Book and Pen project commenced in 2021, launching
its inaugural execution at Namugoona Kigobe Primary School in Uganda on June 6th, 2021.
According to UNICEF Uganda, less than half of children are literate by the end of primary school. Despite the introduction of universal primary education (UPE) in Uganda in 1997, which significantly enhanced access, it did not address the issue of quality.
Children often drop out or are absent from class due to various reasons, including the high cost of school uniforms, books, and stationery. Therefore, the LKH Book and Pen project was initiated to bolster the delivery of quality education by providing scholastic materials, textbooks, and covering tuition fees.
